Amref Health Africa has nearly 60 years of experience in Africa, focused on building bridges between formal and informal health systems, between Ministries of Health and people living in rural communities, between the private and the public health sector. All to improve the health of people in Africa and to realize lasting health change.

In shared value partnerships with multinational organizations as Philips, GSK, Johnson & Johnson Amref proves its value. Amref gives private sector partners access to communities, in-depth knowledge of the pain points in African health systems, an extensive network of African and international stakeholders and a strong reputation.

Amref strongly believes that Africans are well positioned to find solutions to African challenges. We have experience, for example with our own Flying Doctors social enterprise, the advantages of an entrepreneurial setting. To bring scalability and sustainability in our activities, an entrepreneurial and business approach is needed. From this background, we’ve initiated Innovate for Life, a program centered around developing shared value partnerships between Amref country offices and health innovators to support health innovations from around the world scale in SSA and address major health challenges in the region.
