Over 15 million smallholder farmers in Ethiopia grow herbs and spices, but fragmented land and perishability lead to 40% post-harvest loss. Food safety concerns like mycotoxins impact product quality, blocking access to key international markets. Despite being the 2nd largest producer in Africa, only a small portion reaches global buyers. Guaro is solving this by placing 20-foot shipping container micro-factories, each designed for 500 farmers, right next to farms. These mobile processing units turn herbs and spices into high-quality essential oils before they spoil, cutting post-harvest losses and improving quality. Our in-house ERP system ensures full traceability, giving buyers safe, organic, and ethically sourced oils. Farmers earn better prices and direct access to global markets. Guaro brings efficiency, transparency, and sustainability to the essential oil industry, benefiting both producers and consumers.
